TOUCH FOR HEALTH CERTIFICATION PROCESS

The above diagram shows the courses necessary to develop a comprehensive and successful business as a Touch for Health instructor and/ or practitioner. The Touch for Health training is strong enough to stand on it’s own, as is an excellent addition to previous training in the health field.

Below is a brief description of the certification process and the additional courses TFHA sponsors.  These courses can b e taken for personal growth or professional use. 

Introductory Workshop: This normally 16-hour course provides practical skills to manage stress, reduce physical and mental pain and tension and increase overall energy without the use of drugs. Also, included in this course are specific tests, exercises and movements for enhanced learning, improving coordination and finding food sensitivities.  You will learn techniques of applied Kinesiology and acupressure massage.  The TFH Book 1 is required text for this class.

Instructor Training Workshop (ITW):  This 60-hour course prepares you as a Touch for Health Instructor.  Upon completion of the course, you are certified by the International Kinesiology College (IKC) and the Touch for Health Kinesiology Association. It also qualifies you to apply with the IKC as an international faculty member. This course provides comprehensive training in TFH techniques, teaching skills, and running a successful TFH business.

Advanced Courses - Professional Kinesiology Practitioner (PKP):  This five (5) part series is designed for the health professional in private practive, or an individual wanting to begin a private health practice. Graduates of this series are certified by TFHA and the IKC. PKP takes the best of all the kinesiologies and incorporates them into a simple yet complete and thorough system. In depth exploration of the human experience is reviewed, as is the intricate re-balancing necessary to establish proper functioning of body, mind and spirit. Practitioners receive the extensive experience of over 5000 years of the health sciences in on complete package.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS- for Nationally Certified Massage Therapists, RN's, & LPN's

TFHKA is an approved provider for Nationally Certified Massage Therapists and RN's and LPN's (in certain states, as listed below).  Should instructor's wish to apply to their home state or other to become Continuing education providers in an area not covered by TFHKA, the office will provide support to those persons in any way possible.

Massage Therapists-

TFHKA is approved form the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworkers (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider # 050467-00.  This allows all qualifying instructors t o give continuing education credits to nationally certified Massage Therapists for their certification renewal. Continuing education certificates for students are kept on file in the office for a period of 7 years.

TFHKA is authorized to offer Continuing Education credits to massage therapists and nurses in SOME states. Other professions, such as Social Workers, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychotherapists, Counselors and Educators MAY qualify for credit. Each state and each modality determines acceptance. When attending a TFHKA class or conference each individual participant must verify, with his/her state Board, whether or not credits will be given. A nominal fee will be charged for processing. Please have your licensure/certification number with you.

Requirements for eligibility-

  • Have your Touch for Health education updated according to IKC specifications- every 3 years

  • Maintain a Professional Membership with TFHKA

  • Have a signed Teacher' s Agreements on file in the TFHKA office

  • Submit a NCBTMB Biographical form to TFHKA including the name of your instructors, dates, (month, day, year) and number of hours for each class. Be sure to include the same for your kinesiology-related coursework

  • Have your students fill out evaluation forms and submit copies to the TFHKA office

  • Register your students with TFHKA by submitting your class rosters along with $5.00 for continuing education unit certificates per student per level taken

  • Include the student's NCBTMB certification number on the class roster

As a continuing education provider, TFHKA is responsible for all records relative to continuing education credit.  We will file an annual report with NCBTMB notifying them of all students who have received continuing education credit through us.  Therefore, in order for your students to receive credit, please follow the procedure as outlines above.

Nationally Certified Massage Therapists are allowed one hour of credit per one hour of classroom time.  The maximum allowable is 20 hours for Level I, 16-18 hours for Levels II & III, and 8-12 hours for Level IV.

Once you are in compliance with the above requirements, you must use the following statement on your promotional materials:

"Touch for Health Kinesiology Association is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworkers (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider."

In addition, the instructor should include the syllabus, a clear concise description of the class and a time outline.

RN's-

TFHKA is approved by the Board of Registered Nursing in California, Continuing Education Provider # CEP 13015, for RN's and LPN's in all states except Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota and Wyoming.  Instructors in those states can apply directly with the appropriate state-licensing agency to provide continuing education credit to nurses. Certificates are kept on file in this office for a period of no less than 5 years.

  • Compliance for Touch for Health instructors is the same as for massage therapist CEU's, except instructor need to provide the student's license number.

  • Advertising for RN's and LPN's for the California Board of Registered Nursing must read as follows:

"Provider approved by the California Board of registered Nursing, Provider number CEP 13015, for _______________ contact hours."

·        Advertising must also have a refund/cancellation policy (including time lines), a clear, concise description of the course content and/ or objectives and the provider name stated as it is officially on file with the Board of Registered Nursing (Touch for Health Kinesiology Association).

Classroom hours must be more than one hour, no maximum or classroom hours per level and nurses receive 1.2 hours of CEU credit per one hour of class room time, ie 16 hours of class time equals 19.2 credits.
